Technical Visit & Meeting EIFFAGE Asphalt Mix Batching Plant

Within the European CAPRI Project, work has begun on the tasks corresponding to the WP2.

The first objective of this work package, related to EIFFAGE and the asphalt mix industry, is to define the specifications and requirements of the cognitive tools and technologies to be applied in the HMA manufacturing process. The second objective is to define, specify and validate a Digital Transformation methodology for the HMA manufacturing Industry.

To achieve these objectives, on 06/07/2020, the EIFFAGE R&D department organized a visit and technical meeting with two technology centers participating in the project:

- CARTIF is an applied research center. It is a private, non-profit foundation, born from the University of Valladolid, whose mission is to offer innovative solutions to companies to improve their processes, systems, and products, improving their competitiveness and creating new business opportunities.

- AIMEN Technology Center is a private, non-profit innovation and technology center highly specialized in materials and in advanced manufacturing technologies, especially joining technologies and laser technologies applied to materials processing, robotics, and automation.

During this visit, work begun on the definition of specifications and requirements in terms of data and methods that should lead the development and implementation of cognitive tools and technologies. This will provide a detailed analysis of the requirements for the specific characteristics of HMA manufacturing. Part of the analysis will include the current IT infrastructure, the gaps that the future CAP will cover and its corresponding reference architecture, which covers the roles of users from plant operators to developers.
